The dam has a storage capacity of 1.86 million megalitres (four times that of Sydney harbour) and a catchment area of 114,000 km². A 400km channel system delivers irrigation water to individual farms in the Scheme. ACF has total channel and underground water entitlements equating to 12.8ML per hectare per annum over the total arable land excluding normal fallow, well in excess of Burdekin benchmark of 8ML.
